How do I hook-up my iPod to my Yamaha AV receiver without using the Yamaha YDS-10/YDS-11/YDS-12 iPod dock?

Last Update: 05/12/2011

Although the Yamaha iPod docks will not work with older model receivers, you can still connect your iPod to the receiver using a standard cable that will take the iPod headphone output jack (called a stereo mini plug). This cable will convert a standard red/white RCA type connection that can be plugged into the back of the Yamaha receiver into an available audio input jack. This connection will get sound from your iPod, and you will continue to have control of what songs play via the player itself. Another option is to use a third party iPod docking station that connects to the Yamaha receiver using a red/white RCA type connection.
