In order to connect an iPod and/or iPhone to a receiver that does not have the dock input, you will need to use a third party universal iPod dock that connects using standard red and white analog RCA connections. The RCA connections from the dock would connect to any available audio input on the back or front of the receiver.
You can also use a basic connecting cable that has a headphone plug on one end that would connect to your iPod and then standard red and white analog RCA connections on the other end that would then connect to any available audio input on the back or front of the receiver.
