The RX-V577 has the following differences/advantages over the RX-V477:

1.  RX-V577 is a 7 channel receiver with Zone B support, the RX-V477 is a 5 Channel.
2.  RX-V577 has assignable amplifiers for front speaker bi-amp connection.
3.  Easy Wi-Fi setup i.e. iOS Wi-Fi settings sharing, WPS etc.
4.  Wireless Direct connects a mobile device directly without home network
5.  RX-V577 has 2 subwoofer outputs.(Mirrored) RX-V477 has 1 subwoofer output.
