Setting the Input Levels for a MY8-AD24 Card

Last Update: 06/03/2011

The input level of the MY8-AD can be switched between +4 dB, and +24 dB. There are dipswitches located directly behind each XLR input that allow the level to be adjusted independantly for each individual input.

To achieve the best results the switch should be set at or above the maximum output level of the device that is to be connected to it. Keyboards and drum machines typically have a maximum output level of +4 dB so the switch would be set at +4 dB for keyboards, drum machines, etc. Microphone preamps and mixers typically have a maximum output level of between +18 dB to +24 dB so the switch would be set at +24 dB for microphone preamps and mixers.

Check the maximum output level of the device that is to be connected to the card in order to properly set the MY8-AD.

NOTE: There are no microphone preamps or line amps on the MY8-AD. Since microphones have very low output levels it will be neccessary to connect the microphone to a microphone preamp before being connected to the MY8-AD.
