Triggering Arps On the Motif XS, Motif XF From Cubase Using mLan

Last Update: 10/24/2012

NOTE: This procedure does NOT cover establishing an mLan connection (i.e. settings and driver set up) between the XS / XF and a MAC or PC, it only covers setting sync parameters with an existing mLan connection between the XS / XF and AI software.

Motif XS / XF settings:

1. Press the [SEQ SETUP] button
.

2. Set ‘quick set up’ to #4
.

3. Press the [SONG] buttton.

4. Press the [MIXING] button
.

NOTE: SONG or PATTERN mode can be used.

5. Select a track (by pressing one of the 1-16 buttons).

6. Press the [F2] button.

7. Press the [SF1] button.

8. Set switch to ‘ON’.

NOTE: 'Switch' has to be 'ON', or the arps won’t trigger. Simply pressing the arp button doesn’t guarantee this will be on. Make sure you confirm it’s on.

Cubase AI Settings:

1. Go to ‘FILE’.

2. Select ‘Preferences’.

3. Go to ‘MIDI’.

4. Set ‘MID THRU ACTIVE’ to OFF (no check).

5. Click ‘Apply’, then ‘OK’.

6. Now go to ‘TRANSPORT’.

7. Go down and select ‘Project sync set up’.

8. Assign ‘TIMECODE’ to ‘Internal’.

9. Under ‘MIDI TIMECODE DESTINATION’, the following assignments are:

a). ‘Motif XS# -MAIN’ = Checked.

b). ‘Motif XS# - Remote' = Checked.
