Layer and Splitting MotifXF6, MotifXF7, MotifXF8

NOTE: SPLITTING AND LAYERING IS DONE IN PERFORMANCE MODE 

1) Press the [PERFORMANCE] button and turn the dial to select a performance to overwrite.


2) Press the [JOB] button. The display will indicate ''Initialize Current Performance''.


3) Press the [ENTER] button.


4) Press the [INC/YES] button.


5) Press the [EXIT] button.


6)  Select the first voice and press the [F2] button.  The first voice should already be highlighted and a red x should already be placed in the box. 

  a) If not, cursor up  to Part One and turn the dial so the red arrow is in the box.


7)  Press the [CATEGORY SEARCH] button.


8) Press a category button (such as [PIANO], [BASS], [STRINGS], [ORGAN], etc…) Turn the dial to audition the voices.


9) Press the [ENTER] button. 

NOTE: For the other voice parts 2, 3, 4, use the cursor buttons to navigate to numbers 2, 3, and 4 and Repeat steps 6-9.   The voices are now layered. Continue with the steps below for splitting the voices:


Selecting the Note Limits for the first voice.

10) Press the [EDIT] button.


11) Press the [TRACK1] button.

NOTE: We will be setting its note limit to play on the top (right) part of the keyboard.


12) Press the [F1] button.

 

13) Press [SF1] button.

 

14) Use the , , ,  (cursor) buttons to navigate to ‘Note Limit’.

 

15) Turn the [DATA DIAL] to change the ‘Low Note Limit’ to G2,

 

16) Use the , , ,  (cursor) buttons to navigate to the second letter and number on the right.

 

17) Turn the [DATA DIAL] to change the ‘High Note Limit’ to G8.

NOTE: The first (right hand) part will now play from the G below middle C to the end of the keyboard.

 

18) Press the [TRACK2] button to Select voice #2.

NOTE: We will be setting its note limit to play on the bottom (left) part of the keyboard.

 

19) Use the , , ,  (cursor) buttons to navigate to ‘Note Limit’.

 

20) Turn the [DATA DIAL] to change the ‘Low Note Limit’ to C-2,

 

21) Use the , , ,  (cursor) buttons to navigate to the second letter and number on the right.

 

22) Turn the [DATA DIAL] to change the ‘High Note Limit’ to F#2.

NOTE: The second or left hand part will now play from the bottom of the keyboard to F# below middle C.  (The split points can be set anywhere, the above are merely examples.)


Changing the Octaves:

If the parts are sounding too high or low, on the same screen where the note limits are selected:

 

23) Use the , , ,  (cursor) buttons to Navigate to note shift.

 

24)  Turn the dial to +12 to raise the pitch one octave, +24 for two octaves. If the part is too high, lower it one octave by setting it to -12, or two octaves by setting it to -24.

 

Storing a Performance:

25) Press the [STORE] button.

26) Press the [ENTER] button.

27) Press the [INC/YES] button.
