What's the "Heckel" system?

Last Update: 09/03/2010

There are two types of key systems for bassoon, German system and French system. The German system is also called the Heckel system and is widely used worldwide. The French system is based on the bassoon key system in the Baroque period, which has less keys. This type of key system is more difficult to control intonation and has less projection, but is still popular in France.
