What's the difference between the straight windway and the arched windway?

Last Update: 09/03/2010

The windway is the hole where the player blows air into the instrument. "Straight" and "arched" indicate the shape of the windway. A straight windway allows for easy airflow and delivers a pure, soft tone. An arched windway has a full, glossy tone and gives the player more resistance, providing more control.
