Last Update: 09/03/2010

Five different kinds of wood are used for Yamaha recorders and they all have unique sound characteristics. Kingwood: Powerful yet sweet and clear tone. Rosewood: Similar to Kingwood, but a softer and sweeter tone. Ebony: Powerful and brilliant sound. Castellowood: Good for expressing more subtle musical nuances. Maple: Sweet and pure tone, excellent for playing in ensembles.
