Five different kinds of wood are used for Yamaha recorders and they all have unique sound characteristics.
Kingwood: Powerful yet sweet and clear tone.
Rosewood: Similar to Kingwood, but a softer and sweeter tone.
Ebony: Powerful and brilliant sound.
Castellowood: Good for expressing more subtle musical nuances.
Maple: Sweet and pure tone, excellent for playing in ensembles.
