What's the difference between the high-end models and standard models of Yamaha saxophones?

Last Update: 09/03/2010

High-end Yamaha saxophone models require a higher level of craftsmanship to produce them. For example, the bell of a high-end model saxophone requires a single sheet of brass to be folded into half and welded along the edge, then carefully hand hammered into a bell shape by a skilled worker. This takes a considerable amount of time and skill. There are also other differences between the high-end and the standard models in the mechanism and the materials used in the instrument. Every small difference will affect the tone of the instrument, with the high-end instrument's combination of features allowing the player to achieve the nicest tonal color.
