Will the silent brass system alter the feel of my instrument when I use it?

Last Update: 09/03/2010

The silent brass system is a system where a pickup mute (practice mute and microphone) picks up the instrument's sound so the player can hear it through earphones. Since putting a pickup mute in the bell affects the air resistance, it may feel a bit strange compared to playing without the muite. It is the same feeling as playing with a conventional practice mute. The sound normally heard by the player is eliminated by the practice mute. The main reason for the different feeling is because the sound projected through the earphones is different from the normal sound. The player can also control the volume, so the silent brass system brings less strangeness than standard practice mutes.
